My latest trip was to the west side of the divide in early February.

The trip started out beautiful, a day that would reach sixty degrees and nothing but sun on the east side of the divide. However after reaching the top of Marias pass elevation about 5200 feet it was nothing but clouds, overcast and freezing fog from that point on. I spent two days in Kalispell Mt west of the divide and never saw the sun. While there I went to Glacier National park and picked up a lifetime seniors pass for ten dollars, now tell me that's not a great buy. It's good for any national park in the US. The Going To The Sun Road in Glacier is open for about eleven miles in the winter but I saw enough to know I can't wait to drive the whole sixty miles from the west side to the east side of the Continental Divide via Logan pass. Kalispell is a small Rocky Mountain city about thirty five miles from the west entrance to Glacier. Both mornings there I woke up to freezing fog and black ice on the streets. Lucky for me the black ice would disappear and the fog would lift by eleven am each day. This gave me a chance to get some pictures of Lake McDonald with the mountains in the background. Lake McDonald is the starting point of Going To The Sun Road on the west end. I am posting some pictures I took on this trip below. The pictures of the Bald Eagles were taken on the Blackfeet Nations lands east of the divide. Everything that has clear sunny skies where taken east of the top of Marias Pass everything that has cloudy skies and fog were taken west of the top of Marias Pass. The pictures of McDonald lake were taken on two different days, one with the mountains hidden in the fog and one on a day after the fog had lifted to reveal the beautiful snow capped mountains in the background. On my return trip back to Great Falls when I started up to the top of Marias Pass the temperature was about twenty five degrees with overcast skies by the time I reached the top of the pass the temperature was fifty plus degrees and nothing but sunshine for the rest of the trip back to Great Falls. Well I hope you enjoy the pictures. I feel a nap sneaking up on me ready to pounce on this layz curmudgeon at any moment. Have a nice daaaaaayyzzzzzzzzz
