Well this is me Layz1 the curmudgeon writing to you, not from the Great North Woods of NH as usual but from the big city of Manchester NH. My first post from my winter home, my sister's house in Manchester. Now here is the really good news I have been here over a month and haven't been mugged yet, lucky me. Now, about my two days at the beach the day before Christmas and Christmas day. I could not have picked better days to be there. Both days were bright and very sunny, the temperature hovered around 40 degrees. If I had to pick the better day I would say Christmas day was the best day of the two but it would be a close call, the ocean breeze was a tad warmer on that day. The die hard surfers were out on the ocean during the high tide on Christmas day which was the busiest day for people walking on the beach. At one point in time there were about 30 people walking on the beach. Remember we are talking about a mile or more of beach. Or as far as one could see in both directions. Not a lot of people. I felt like I had the whole beach to myself for two days. A little FYI for you good people out there next time a bad case of cabin fever sets in take a few days or a weekend and go to the beach. Hotel rooms a plenty, at a really good price. Keep in mind the beach can be warm at 35 or 40 degrees with a little sunshine. I hope the next time I end up there it will be in January on a day or two when the sea is very angry, like in a Nor'easter.
