More pictures from my Radisson Quebec trip last summer.

See if you can find the green lake. This is Paradis lake, a spring feed lake that get it's green color from the minerals in the ground that the water flows through under the lake. Paradis lake is located on highway 109 about half between the town of Amos and Matagami. You will see my traveling buddy, my niece in a few of these photo's. In one she is playing the lumberjack as we walked along the burned out side of the Rupert River. This was the site of a huge wildfire just two year ago, the only thing that stopped it was the width of the river. The bad news here is that river won't be there to stop the next wildfire. It will be just another small stream when eighty percent of it is diverted to hydro-Quebec's power plant this year.{2007} In the other picture she is standing in a grove of black spruce if you look at the ground around her you will see what they call lichen. That is the mossy stuff that the caribou migrate to that part of Quebec for in the winter months. Lichen is one of their favorite foods. The pile of stones you see that somewhat resembles a man is the way the native cree people mark an important place or the way to an important place. The big black bear is the Radisson dump bear. You don't mess with him unless you want to be on his menu. The picture of the three legged Canadien lynx was taken at the Pageau wildlife refuge in Amos Quebec.
